Post-Oxidation

Post-oxidation

The oxidation process following the nitriding process is called as post-oxidation. With this process, it is aimed to increase the corrosion resistance of the products by forming a thin Fe3O4 (magnetite) layer on the material surface.

Advantages of post-oxidation process

Steel parts, which surface hardness and wear resistance are increased by the plasma nitriding process, also become much more resistant to corrosion when post-oxidation process is applied. The parts on which this process is carried out, have a resistance in the Corrosion Salt Test for 96 hours, 240 hours, 300 hours and more, depending on the material type and the post-oxidation process applied.

Post-oxidation process has areas of use in sectors such as automotive, hydraulics, machinery manufacturing industry and metal injection industry.

The oxidation process, known in the industry by names such as blackening and darkening, also provides visual appeal with the dark blue-anthracite color it imparts to the parts.

An environmentally friendly oxidation process

Post-oxidation applied after the Plasma Nitriding process, which has no negative impact on the environment or employee health, does not cause any harm to the nature.
